Nick and Ashley’s story began in the late summer of 2013, when Nick arrived at Syracuse University to begin his freshman year and moved into Ashley’s dormitory, one floor below her.
Nick thought Ashley was cute. Ashley thought Nick was weird.
As the year unfolded, Ashley and Nick discovered they had a lot in common, starting with them being in the same major and participating in the on-campus TV station. Ashley, a sophomore at the time, taught Nick how to use a broadcast-grade camera, while Nick habitually skipped his grammar classes every Thursday (or Tuesday?) to hang out with Ashley while she produced the 6 p.m. newscast.
Two years later, Ashley graduated and moved to Memphis. The two would talk every now and then. One weekend, Nick and his roommate (and now best man) Rohan flew down for a visit.
Things began to take a turn after Nick graduated in 2017 and moved to South Carolina, while Ashley packed her bags for San Francisco. Even though there was a three-hour time difference and Ashley worked overnight, the two would talk over the phone every few days. Every six months, one or the other would shoulder the burden of a cross-country connecting flight to pay a visit.
Three days after one such trip, Nick and Ashley made it official in October 2018, and the talking grew to every day. In 2021, Nick got a job in Orlando, and Ashley followed suit.
They bought a house 15 minutes east of downtown Winter Park six months after Ashley moved in, and — after delaying to cover a large backyard renovation — Nick finally got down on one knee in their backyard on March 31, 2024.
Nick and Ashley are both excited to share the joy and wonder of the life they are building together in the city they both have grown to call home. They hope you get a chance to try one of their favorite lunch or dinner spots and – in between the roller coasters, cartoons and superheroes – explore the neighborhoods and local attractions that make Central Florida one-of-a-kind.
They can’t wait to see everyone on January 18!
