SpaceX, ULA, Boeing and other companies launch rockets from our Space Coast every three days on average. There’s a very good chance you’ll be here for one — and experiencing it is definitely an item to check off your bucket list!
The launch schedule can be found here. Most launches are announced 48 to 72 hours in advance, and are subject to change at any moment’s notice. We find typing in the launch name (ex: Starlink 12-21 or Crew 10) into Twitter/X is the easiest way to track a launch status.
On a clear day or night, launches can be seen from anywhere in the Orlando area as long as you’re standing on the west side of a lake or a large open field. If there is a launch at any point during our wedding, our DJ will make an announcement a few minutes prior to give everyone a chance to go outside to watch.
Outside of our wedding, we recommend traveling to the coast for the full effect, including the rumble of the engines! Our favorite place to watch launches is Kirk Point Park in Titusville. Plan to arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled launch time for routine launches. For Artemis or Starship launches, you’ll need to arrive at least two hours ahead of time to get a parking spot and be mindful of traffic backups.
You can also check to see if the launch will include an on-shore booster landing by looking at this website the day of the launch. Click “view trajectory” and look at the “profile” chart. If you see one of the lines looping back to the starting point, you’re getting a booster landing!
“Scrubs,” or cancellations can and do happen up to 10 seconds before a launch (T-10). They’re more likely when people are on-board and when there’s weather in the area. Sometimes it pushes the launch back an hour or two, but for most launches it will lead to a full day’s delay. It’s disappointing, but part of the experience!
